Our North American Commitment
Jerry Kooiman and his team members are committed to manufacturing their products in Canada with primarily North American sourced materials. We average around 90-95% North American sourced material. Here is our supply chain: Our aluminum extrusions are extruded and anodized in Toronto, Ontario from aluminum sourced in Quebec. Our glass is fabricated and tempered in Toronto, Ontario from glass made in the United States. Our plastic extrusion is made in Markham, Ontario by a small family-run business. Our main supplier of hardware is a large manufacturer in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Our locks are manufactured in Montreal, Quebec. Our LED lighting is manufactured in Mississauga, Ontario. There are a few materials that are sourced internationally as there are no manufacturers in North America who offer the material we need. In the past few years, the NAFTA free trade agreement has criticized and there have been threats to re-negotiate it in order to protect manufacturing in the United States. There has been a focus on US manufacturers moving to other countries like Mexico in order to take advantage of dramatically lower labour rates, but this does not apply here in Canada. In reality, the trade agreement between Canada and United States has been nearly balanced for many years. As a Canadian manufacturer, we buy American made trucks, machines, tools, and software in addition to materials. We have also attended many US trade shows held in Las Vegas, Chicago, and even Florida! We believe this balanced trade is good for both Canada and the United States. We believe that if we make the sincere effort to buy North American materials, it ensures there will be growth opportunities and steady employment for our fellow Canadians and Americans. Yes, we can likely get our supplies from many international manufacturers for lower cost, but it does not that is not our mission. Our mission is to offer quality display cases that give back to our North American economy in every way.
